UPDATE: After 6 long weeks, our prayers have been answered!

In the early morning hours of Friday, June 22nd, Billy received a cadaveric lung transplant at the University of Southern California's hospital. The surgery took place at approximately 1:00 am and took approximately 8 hours. Billy is now in recovery, where he will remain sedated for approximately 2-3 days. So far, everything seems fine.

We ask for your continued prayers as Billy begins his journey toward recovery and renewed health.

Please pray, as well, for the courageous family that donated the organs of their young loved one. It is this gift that has given our family hope.

UPDATE: Billy was rushed to the emergency room by his wife Danielle on May 6th, the morning after their beautiful wedding. Billy is now in the ICU at MGH in respiratory failure and breathing with the help of a ventilator. He needs a double lung transplant to save his life.

Billy's best chance is to receive a cadaveric (non-living) donation of type AB lungs over the next few days. However, his family is seeking 2 living lobe donors for a lifesaving procedure, should non-living lungs not become available. This procedure involves two different donors each giving one of their 5 lung lobes to Billy. He desperately needs donors to come forward as soon as possible to make this life saving operation happen!!! The living donors may be any blood type and as tall as possible (preferably 5' 11" or taller) . If you think you can help us in any way, please call Julie at 617-721-9794.

Billy Senopoulos is 29 years old and living with cystic fibrosis. His illness has progressed and he needs a double lung transplant to save his life. The waiting list for cadaveric (non-living) transplants is extremely long and Billy is running out of time to receive a transplant. Billy's best hope now is to receive transplanted lobes from two living donors.

In addition to Billy, approximately 89,000 people throughout the country are also awaiting transplant surgery, the "gift of life". Each day, about 74 people receive an organ transplant. However, 17 people die each day waiting for transplants that can't take place because of the shortage of donated organs.

The B Nice Foundation has been created to raise awareness about living and cadaveric (non-living) organ donation and to search for two lung lobe donors for Billy. In this website, you will find information about Billy's journey, cystic fibrosis, living lung donation, as well as ways in which you may be able to help Billy win this battle.
